Drying Tea Room (Bei Cha Wu)

The word “Bei Cha” originally meant “Drying Tea,” i.e. the building was used to dry tealeaves.  It was built according to Emperor Qianlong’s memory of a place he had seen during his tour south of the Yangtze River.  Emperors and other royalty of the Qing Dynasty used to sip tea here.
