This palace was built in 1420 and rebuilt in 1683.

It was a residence for the Ming and Qing empresses and concubines. Concubine Li of Ming Emperor Tianqi, Empress Xiaoxian of the Qing Emperor Qianlong and Empress Dowager Cixi once lived here.
