The three sacrifices, namely, ox, sheep and pig, refer to the required animals in the ancient sacrificial rites. The etiquette of ancient sacrificial rites was classified into Tailao and Shaolao. In Tailao, all the three sacrifices were required, but in Shaolao only sheep and pig were required. After the mid of the Ming Dynasty, Tailao was offered in vernal and autumn sacrificial rites among the Ming Mausoleums in Tianshou Mountain.
