News from Beijing Tourism Administration is that large shopping malls will be built in 'Bird's Nest' and 'Water Cube', making the Olympic core area a thematic park combining racing, catering and entertainment in one.

 
In order to continue the Olympic atmosphere, the Olympic torch will stay in the National Stadium, 'Bird's Nest' in a short term for sightseeing. The 'Bird's Nest' will be converted into a sport culture center where visitors can enjoy performance, good food and drink as well as shopping.

 
The National Aquatics Center, 'Water Cube' will be opened to the public as a water park. It will be the largest water park in Beijing which has man-made beach, aquatic recreational equipments and body-building facilities. The project is scheduled to be started at the end of this year.
