Theater in Prince Gong’s Mansion

The Grand Theater in Prince Gong’s Mansion has a history of more than 200 years. Its connected circuit structure and pointing-out stage enable the audience to hear the stage sound clearly even from the farthest corner. It had been the private theater of He Shen, once the most important court official and Prince Gong. With a total area of 685 square meters, it has typical traditional style: red-lacquered and carved doors, exquisitely decorated walls and royal lanterns.

The stage (7.2×6.1×0.32 m)is situated in a courtyard and built in the south of a square hall, pointing out in three directions with a half-meter railing. Tables and seats are provided in the hall and the second floor is specially designed for women and kids.

In recent years, a large number of ambassadors, political leaders and business gurus held banquets here, sitting at black-lacquered hardwood square tables, drinking tea, watching the show and enjoying the Royal Night Servings.

Visitors can also choose to watch acrobatics shows in the daytime.
