China Children’s Art Theater  

Founded in 1956, China children’s Art Theater is located in Donghuamen Street near to Wangfujing Street and is a national theater under the jurisdiction of the Ministry of Culture. It is the professional theater for dramas with about 800 seats. In the past 47 years, it has always played a role of guidance, representation and model in the field of children’s drama. Attracting 380 million children and teenagers, it stages performances nationwide: Wusuli River and Inner-Mongolian grassland in the north, Shenzhen and Hong Kong in the south, Shanghai in the west and Jiangli River and Xiang River in the southwest… Its name is inscribed in the memory of the Chinese people. In 1995, the musical drama Malan Flower was staged in Singapore where the audience was deeply impressed by it. It has created more than 130 plays and staged over ten thousand performances. Malan Flower, instructed and directed by former Premier Zhou Enlai, was the most classical one and appreciated by three generations since the founding of the PRC, which could be regarded as the first milestone for the children’s theater in China.
